Hi everyone,
The GI Effects Test is a lab test that provides a good analysis of your microbiome. Your microbiome is the micro-organisms in your body, inside and out. Essentially, I am talking about BACTERIA within the human body. The gut microbiome plays a very important role in your health by helping control digestion and benefiting your immune system and many other aspects of health. An imbalance of unhealthy and healthy microbes in the intestines may contribute to weight gain, high blood sugar, high cholesterol and other disorders. Most cellular chemical reactions require bacteria. Here is an example: Apoptosis- programmed cell death. Over 30 billion of your cells die per day. These cells need to be engulfed, destroyed, and discarded. This is accomplished by bacteria, protein and immune system. Another example: Akkermansia Muciniphila is found in your intestines. Low levels of this bacteria are often found in those with problems of appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), obesity, diabetes, and inflammation. Microbiome of the body has influence on cardiovascular disease, autoimmune conditions, and cancer. We use a GI Effects tests to analyze the microbiome. Yours in health, Dr. Donald T. Henderson, DC, CCSP
